I’m currently doing my industrial attachment at Ipharm for 2 weeks.
I’m placed at the Bio-processing department.
In a nut shell, BP does the scale-up of the Cuprisvidus sp. USMAA1020 bacteria to produce bioplastics.
The bioplastics produced are biodegradable and biocompatible polymer which can be used in the medical-related fields.
P(3HB-co-4HB) is the specific polymer produced via intracellular process which after validation showed that this specific polymer has the highest medical application.
Today we get to start with the preparation of nutrient agar (complex medium).
After weighing and filled up with distilled water, we autoclave our own nutrient agar to sterilize it.
When the agar is allowed to cool after autoclave, we move on to pouring the agar onto culture plates for the agar to solidify. The pouring part was carried out in the vertical laminar flow with proper aseptic techniques.
Besides that we also practised how to streak the bacteria today. (however i have not thought of taking photos when we were streaking just now )
On top of that, we also learnt how to calibrate a fermenter.
And the remaining hours well, we’re doing the same thing like what i am doing now. lol
alright that’s all for now.
bye.
